Hello everyone. This is just a short news bulletin to alert you to some events and publications I have in the pipeline. Here goes:
Firstly, I’m very happy to announce that The Book of Wild Saints, my collection of the stories of Christian wilderness ascetics which has been rolling out here at the Abbey, has found a publisher. Two publishers, in fact. The book, with illustrations by Ewan Craig, will be published by Penguin in the USA and SPCK in the UK in 2026. I hope we might find some interest in translations into other languages too. Any publishers who would like to talk about that can drop my agent a line.
More immediately, I’m genuinely excited to have an article in the forthcoming edition of Death to the World, my favourite (and probably the only) Orthodox ‘zine. DTTW is only available in print, so if you want to read my article about the principalities and powers of digital tech, you’ll have to pre-order a copy. Get in quick, because they tend to go fast.
I have just updated the events page of my personal website to include everything I’ll be doing for the rest of this year. The list includes an event in Dublin next month, as well as a mini-speaking tour of the USA in October.
And finally, though later than planned, news of the next installation of the Abbey’s book club series, The Scriptorium. As I wrote at the end of the last review, our next book will be G. K. Chesterton’s The Everlasting Man. My review will be published here on Wednesday 23rd October. I hope some of my readers will publish their own reviews in response, or at the same time.
That’s all for now. I’ll be back with a more substantial piece of writing very soon.
Paul
Looking forward to the Erasmus lecture!
Oh good. There’s still time to read Everlasting Man…
