Apologies for all the posting this week. All sorts of things seem to be happening at once at the moment. I promise that things will calm down again soon, and the Abbey will return to its normal rhythm. Before Christmas, you can expect part three of my Into The Void essay (parts one and two can be found here), another story from the lives of the wild saints, and, all being well, the beginning of my new Sunday Pilgrimage series. It will be good to get back to some rooted stories after all this over-thinking.
In the meantime, though, I want to quickly alert readers to two events I’m doing in Britain in December:
I’ll be at a two-day ‘post-liberalism’ conference in Cambridge on 13th and 14th December, with a group of people from all over the spectrum, including John Milbank, Dan Hitchens, Katja Hoyer, Tara Isabella Burton, Tom Holland, and plenty of others. You can find out more and book tickets here.
Then, on Monday 16th, Unherd have asked me to an evening event in London which they’re calling How The West Fell for Pseudo-Religion. It will be me and some other panellists yet to be confirmed. I expect we’ll be talking about neo-paganism, pick-and-mix spirituality, the anti-culture we live in, cultural and civilisational Christianity and who knows what else. A good old religious debate to set us up for Christmas. You can buy tickets here.
And with this, normal service resumes.
Overthinking might very well be the crime of this century.
I thrilled to say I will be able to attend the conference at Cambridge. For an Anglophile such as myself, with my interests, this conference, at this place and this time of year is a dream come true. Thank you for letting us know, Paul. I will be the awkward, over-awed American lady who stands in the background and perhaps attempts to shake your hand.
