The American Book Tour
Plus other news, and some videos
Hello all. At long last, I’m able to announce the places and dates that I’ll be speaking at on my forthcoming US tour for my new book Against The Machine.
When I asked my American readers here on Substack, a couple of months back, if anyone would like to invite me to speak in the USA I was unprepared for the response. More than 200 people wrote to me offering ideas, locations, venues and offers to host me. It was quite overwhelming, in the best of ways.
Unfortunately, my publisher is not going to pay for me to visit everyone who invited me: as I was recently reminded on my Alaskan road trip, the US is a very big place. There are a lot of venues, people and places I would have loved to have visited - I’m sorry not to be able to make it to the west coast this time, for example. Maybe in the future I will; and I’d like to thank everyone who spent the time and thought sending me so many kind invitations.
For now though, what you can see above is the speaking tour I will be doing to launch Against The Machine - starting at the end of next month. This is going to keep me quite busy enough! Full details of those events which have released them are currently available on my personal website’s events page, here. I will be adding the details of all my events to this page as they come in, so you may want to bookmark it.
I hope to see some of you in some of these places. I always look forward to meeting the Abbey’s denizens on the road.
Other News
In a month or so’s time I will also be announcing some forthcoming events in Britain and Ireland, most of which will be taking place in November. Keep your eyes peeled for that.
In the meantime, and on a slightly different subject, I was recently involved in an interesting podcasty conversation with the author and scholar Bijan Omrani about the future - if there is one - of Christianity in England. You should ignore the clickbaity title card. If God truly was an Englishman, we would have won the recent test series against India.
Another little film that has recently appeared was shot by an Australian film crew who passed through my Irish townland earlier this summer, and recorded an interview with me in my garden about how I became a Christian in the first place. If that’s of any interest you can watch it here. My hairstyle has evolved again since this was shot. It tends to do this every year or so. At my age, you’re just grateful to still have some hair to evolve.
There are many more little films of me blabbing about various subjects on my YouTube channel, if you have nothing better to do with your summer.
See you down the road,
Paul

No visit to the West Coast 😭
For those who can’t attend these events in person - please please please make every attempt to have them recorded and shared via YouTube (or venue websites). I hope to attend Irvington (once details are released). Thanks!! 🙏
