Just a quick note to say that I have just banned a commenter who was roaming around here insulting everyone and picking fights. I have zero tolerance for this kind of boring online behaviour and I won't put up with it. Apologies to those who encountered him/her.

Thank you for this essay, Paul. Silence does not just mean 'absence of noise', it means an inner silence where we try to stop thoughts, impressions, even music, chosen each other.

The main, the most important point however is the one regarding Jesus words about children and becoming like them. For me, this means our response to his unconditional love with our unconditional trust - the sort of trust a child has in his father or mother. Sometimes, it feels as if I have hold of Jesus' clothes, like a toddler clinging to his father's or mother's legs, while he walks along a road.

God bless you and your work.
